Umoja, the Swahili word for unity, aims to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds for a celebration of the rich African-American heritage and culture of the region.
This year, Vulcan is bringing in the Sea Gals to participate in the Africatown Heritage Parade, featuring dance troops and drill teams. Other festivities include musical acts, a basketball tournament, bites from local restaurants and food trucks, and a vendor marketplace and community resource fair.
