On Monday, May 14, SDOT will begin construction on Phase 2 of the 23rdAvenue Corridor Improvements which will continue for the next year. Here are a few dates to keep in mind and what you can expect to see.
Monday, May 14: Starting on Monday, both directions of King County Metro Bus Routes 48 and Route 4 will be detoured to Martin Luther King Jr Way S. For more information about Metro reroutes during construction, visit Metro’s website, look for Rider Alerts, or call Metro at 206-553-3000.
Wednesday, May 16: Plan ahead for traffic detours to begin southbound on 23rdAve S between S Jackson Street and S Massachusetts Street will be detoured to Martin Luther King Jr Way. Northbound traffic will not be affected at this time. The detour is expected to last for the duration of SDOT’s construction in order to ensure the safety of crews and the traveling public.
SDOT’s initial work will include surveying, saw cutting, striping a left-turn pocket on S Massachusetts St to assist with traffic flow during the detour, and more.
